Farrier
The University of Florida’s Farrier service works under the direction of the Equine & Large Animal Surgery and Equine Lameness & Diagnostic Imaging service’s board-certified veterinary surgeons and radiologists.
This team approach uses our complete range of capabilities and diagnostic modalities to identify and treat many conditions ranging from general hoof problems such as hoof imbalance, quarter cracks, and abscesses, to laminitis, fractures, poor-performance, and other lameness issues. The UF Farrier service provides therapeutic farriery and equine podiatry to all over Florida, including the Gainesville, Jacksonville and Ocala areas.
Our farrier, Jody Schaible, has been with the University of Florida since 2008 and works alongside our board-certified surgeons for superior treatment and follow-up hoof care. Jody graduated from the Oklahoma Horseshoeing School in 2000 and shoes horses in all disciplines. View Jody’s Hoof Care presentation.
