The University of Florida Large Animal Hospital was built in 1994 to provide advanced diagnostics and veterinary care to equine, cattle, alpacas, llamas, goats, pigs, and other large farm or food animals. The hospital also works within the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine and with the Large Animal Clinical Sciences Department, serving as a clinical teaching environment for the veterinarians of tomorrow.
Located at the main campus of the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida, the Large Animal Hospital treats approximately 4,000 horses annually. More than 1,000 farm animals, such as beef and dairy cattle, are seen and treated in their home farm environments by veterinarians associated with the Large Animal Hospital’s Food Animal Reproduction and Medicine Service (FARMS).
